You do not want to ruin your stained material by using too much heat on the wrong fabric. Just make sure that you heat the iron according to the fabric. The go-to method when it comes to this or other types of tape residue is to use your hot iron and a paper towel or two. If this does not remove the sticky residue fall back to waterless hand cleansers or pre-wash stain removers. If it is loose and feels lumpy then rinse with cold water again. Rub the tape residue and see if it is ready to come off. You can knead the spot at this point as well. Once you have thoroughly mixed the water and the Woolite, add your clothing and let them soak for about 30 minutes. Then you add the Woolite according to the manufacturer’s instructions on the label. The size allows you to swirl the clothing around easier. The first step in this process is to fill a large container up with cold water. When the sticky tape leaves a residue behind on cotton materials, one good solution is to soak the clothing in a Woolite cleanser. When you do this though, the tape may leave some residue behind. If you are just talking about the tape itself, you find a loose edge and pull it up till you get a good grip and then yank the tape off. There are no guarantees these alternative options will work as well as your hot iron. failing that, your third option may be a sharp knife, razor blade, or sharp scissors and scrape the residue off the fabric. This will take a little work as you have to do some rubbing to get that residue off. You can try waterless hand cleaners or spot removers as a second option. It shouldn’t take a long time to remove the old residue as it should melt again quite easily. Just make sure you have a piece of an old cloth or some other one-use item between the tape residue and your hot iron. Because you use an iron to fuse the tape to the fabric, the best tool to use to remove any visible residue is an iron. There would be no point in using fabric tape to bind hems or seams together if the material washed out easily. It is a permanent adhesive that is meant to adhere to your clothing fabrics together and remain in place even when washed. Of course, since I forgot it, I didn't get a chance to find out, but I can assure you that my wanting to use it had NOTHING to do with my clothing being too tight.Generally, this type of tape residue is made not to wash out. I was hoping a little tape across the top of the bra and dress would help. I meant to pack it for my cruise but forgot, but I wanted it because strapless bras do not stay up well on me, I don't know if it's because I am very narrow in the rib cage or what, and also my strapless dresses always seem to fall down in back to below my bra line. When we were shopping for a formal for my younger daughter recently they had the Hollywood brand at the Jessica McClintock store and we bought some because she was nervous about wearing a strapless dress. I think that was before dress manufacturers realized there was a market for it. When my older daughter was doing dance competitions we used to buy the wig/toupee tape at the beauty supply stores and use it to hold those costumes in place to prevent wardrobe malfunctions in the middle of a dance. You can get some relatively inexpensive fashion tape from Target, but my favorite is by "Hollywood XX" or something like that. I actually had to resort to Scotch double-stick tape the other day! :D While they do make Fashion Tape just for this purpose, regular double-stick tape works, as well. Be very careful about applying tape directly to your skin! Well, my sister had an allergic reaction to the tape and it actually peeled her skin off in some places and left it red and bubbly in others. When my sister was much younger, her dance coach made the girls tape their costumes to their skin so they wouldn't wiggle around (these were little girls 10-12 who didn't wear bras yet). I'm with Lexipoo - fashion tape is a safety precaution used to prevent 'wardrobe malfunctions.' Also, you don't tape clothes to your body (or at least I don't) - you tape your clothes to your bra to keep your bra from peeping out. I find it especially helpful in the back to keep a dress (halter or strapless) from slipping down and showing my bra bra. Tape is really helpful in preventing wiggling. If the clothing needs special adhesives to stay safely on your body, the clothing doesn't fit you! Don't pack it. If you need tape to hold your dress in place, it doesn't fit.period! I would hate to have to worry about body parts "popping" out.it's truly not worth the effort!
